"As Wes Potts will confirm, he was in my division. He called me the "Geedunk kid", not to my face. Because I was always at the "GeeDunk" stand. Now that was better than being out at the beer parlor or some other place. For the record I would have to say I went out to the "Geedunk" stand in Honolulu, had a milk shake and a hamburger."

Commander Paul Backus being low on money, didn't have a date decides to stay on board that night.
He attends the movie on board the Oklahoma. Does some reading afterwards, and listens to the big-band records being broadcast by a Honolulu radio station.

"Midnight came and went. I remember being surprised by the fact that the radio station did not sign off then. It usually did.
In later years, I often wondered if it remained on the air that night, later than usual, to act as a beacon for the Japanese. Since I don't recall anyone else ever raising the question, I presume I must be in error."
Paul Backus
He finally turns off the light for the evening..
