Patty, Maxene and LaVerne Andrews emerged from Minnesota become the greatest female act in the field of entertainment! With their distinctive and unmistakable sound they burst upon the best seller charts in 1938 with their initial debut "Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen."

During World War II, the Andrews Sisters became as synonymous with music, radio records, and the war effort as Betty Grable was to legs and bathing suits! The sweethearts of the Armed Forces toured military bases performing with Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and their own Andrews Sisters shows.
Writer Richard Wells put it most aptly "An important weapon in the arsenal of democracy, the Andrews Sisters helped maintain high morale at home during the early, dark days of the war, and boosted the sale of war bonds during their concert tours and radio appearances."

The sisters sold over 100 million records, helped foundthe Hollywood USO Canteen along with Bette Davis and John Garfield, and starred in some seventeen films at Universal. The Andrews films, many which starred Abbott and Costello, were box office smashes! Sadly, LaVerne passed on in 1967 putting an end to the legendary trio.
Seven years later, however, Patty and Maxene re-teamed to star on Broadway in their highly successful and acclaimed 1974 musical,"Over There." Patty and Maxene remained popular performer's they appeared, separately, with their solo acts on the concert stage, nightclubs and television.
Maxene passed away in 1995.
